Intake Manifold Flow Test Station

To be sure the runners flow freely on this V-8 engine intake manifold, it is placed onto this FLOW TEST station for inspection during production.

Applying a steady air supply to the inlet of the manifold, while monitoring the internal pressure with a pressure transducer, we can determine air flow of each of the runner ports by opening and closing a series of port seals.

Pneumatic cylinders attached to seal slides are sequenced during the cycle, and the internal pressure is monitored during each step. A registry in the PLC contains variable data constraints to determine approximate flow capacity of each port.

The color touch screen relays the results to the operator in an easily understood format.
